PAGECRAFT STUDIO 0.5.3 — STORE PREPARATION
Previously named Code Injector. Requires desktop Google Chrome 138 or newer.
This update removes redundant tab permissions and fixes remote JSON rule imports.

UPDATE YOUR EXISTING INSTALLATION (KEEP YOUR SAVED RULES)
1. Optional backup: open the existing extension's Options > Export.
2. Close its popup and any open picker.
3. Extract this ZIP over the files in the SAME folder you previously loaded
into Chrome. Keep that folder in its current location.
4. Open chrome://extensions and click Reload on the extension card.
The extension will now appear as PageCraft Studio.
5. Refresh the webpage, then open the picker.
Do not remove the existing extension if you want to keep its saved rules.

FIRST INSTALLATION
1. Extract this ZIP into a permanent folder named PageCraft Studio.
2. Open chrome://extensions in desktop Google Chrome.
3. Turn ON Developer mode in the top-right corner.
4. Click Load unpacked and choose the folder directly containing manifest.json,
html, script, and style. Choose the extracted folder, not the ZIP.
5. Pin PageCraft Studio from Chrome's puzzle-piece Extensions menu.

QUICK TEXT — SMALL EDITOR, TWO-KEY SHORTCUTS
1. Press Alt+Q on a normal webpage (Option+Q on Mac).
2. Click the text you want to change. A compact editor appears beside it.
3. Type the replacement, then press Ctrl+Enter (Command+Enter on Mac).
The text is saved for this exact page and the editor closes automatically.
4. Press Escape instead to cancel and restore the text before your draft.
Save and Cancel buttons remain available in the small editor.
Cancel is briefly disabled while a save is completing.
If saving fails, the editor stays open with your draft and an error message.
The extension popup also has a Quick text button.

If Alt+Q does not open the editor, open chrome://extensions/shortcuts and assign
your preferred two-key shortcut to PageCraft Studio > Pick text with the compact
editor. Chrome or another extension may already use the suggested shortcut.
Ctrl+Enter saves only while the picker editor is open; normal typing elsewhere
is unaffected. Pressing Enter by itself still inserts a newline in the text box.

FULL VISUAL EDITOR
1. Open a normal website and click the PageCraft Studio toolbar icon.
2. Click Pick element, then click a heading, label, link, or paragraph.
3. Under Text, type your replacement in Display text. Live preview shows it.
Text is plain text: pasted HTML is displayed literally, never executed.
4. Optionally change color, font size, spacing, corners, or visibility.
5. Name the rule, choose This exact page or Every page on this site,
then click Save rule. Text-only edits are supported.
6. Close the picker. The saved text remains and reapplies on future visits.
Ctrl+Enter also saves from the full editor; this mode stays open after saving.

WHAT "PERMANENT" MEANS
Saved rules live in this Chrome profile and survive page reloads and browser
restarts. They change the page's live text nodes in your browser. They do not
rewrite files on the website's server or change what other visitors see.
Rules remain until you disable/delete them, clear extension data, or uninstall.
Use Options > Export for a backup or to move rules to another installation.

EDIT OR UNDO
- Pick the same element again to revise its existing rule for the same scope.
- Or open its saved rule in the popup: the Text tab edits its replacement.
- Use website text restores the recorded original text; click Save to keep it.
- Disable/delete a text rule to restore its original text on open matching pages.
Existing CSS may require a page reload after disabling/deleting its rule.
- Live preview, Reset changes, Choose another, Close, and Escape let you compare
or discard an unsaved draft without deleting a previously saved rule.

SUPPORTED TEXT
Choose the smallest element containing the text you need. A parent containing
nested text is intentionally protected so links and other elements stay intact.
Text beside a decorative icon is supported when there is one direct text label.
Inputs, textareas, editable fields, embedded frames, and shadow-tree contents
cannot be text-edited. Changes support up to 10,000 characters.

Saved selectors must still uniquely identify the element, and its website text
must match the recorded original. If the website changes its text or structure,
pick it again to update the rule. Dynamically inserted/replaced matching elements
are handled automatically. Exact-page scope includes query strings and fragments.

PERMISSIONS
Text and visual edits do not require Allow User Scripts. That setting is needed
only for custom JavaScript: PageCraft Studio > Details > Allow User Scripts,
then reload the extension.
The informational startup warning has been removed. Permission guidance appears
only if a rule actually fails; Chrome's JavaScript permission is still enforced.
Local pages/files need Allow access to file URLs. Use This exact page for a local
file rule. Local code files require an absolute path or file:/// URL.

TROUBLESHOOTING
"Manifest file is missing or unreadable": fully extract the ZIP and choose the
exact folder containing manifest.json, not a parent folder or the original CRX.
"Extension context invalidated": reload the webpage after reloading the extension.
If a selected element moves, disappears, or changes text, pick it again.
Chrome internal pages and the Chrome Web Store cannot be modified.

This is an unpacked extension, not a published Chrome Web Store listing.
Manifest/resources and automated behavior tests were checked. Live installation
and visual layout in Google Chrome could not be tested here. See README.md.
