PAGECRAFT STUDIO 0.7.0 FOR SAFARI
Target: Safari 18.4 or newer on macOS.
This is a Safari web-extension ZIP for testing and Apple app packaging.
It is not a signed Mac app, a CRX installer, or an approved App Store release.
AI editing, custom JavaScript and file:// access are unavailable in this build.

TEMPORARY INSTALLATION — MAC SAFARI
1. Download the Safari ZIP. Safari can load the ZIP directly, or you can extract
it fully into a folder. That folder must directly contain manifest.json,
   icon16.png, icon32.png, icon48.png, icon128.png, html, script and style.
2. Open Safari > Settings > Advanced and enable Show features for web developers.
3. Open Settings > Developer and click Add Temporary Extension.
4. Follow Safari's unsigned-extension authentication prompt, then select the
extension ZIP or extracted folder. Do not select a Chrome/Edge CRX file.
5. In Settings > Extensions, enable PageCraft Studio and grant it access to the
website you want to edit. Refresh an open webpage after enabling it.
6. If testing another PageCraft version on the same page, disable that other
version to avoid duplicate changes and shortcut conflicts.

Safari removes temporary extensions after 24 hours or when you quit Safari.
Export your rules before ending the test. Temporary installation is for testing;
it does not create a permanent signed app. Re-add the extension when needed.

QUICK TEXT EDITING
1. Open a normal http:// or https:// webpage where PageCraft has site access.
2. Press Option+Q, or choose Quick text in the PageCraft toolbar popup.
3. Click a text element and enter its replacement.
4. Press Command+Enter to save for this exact page and close the small editor.
5. Press Escape instead to cancel an unsaved draft.
If Option+Q is already used by Safari, macOS or another extension, use Quick text
in the popup. Close the picker before navigating to a different page.

FULL VISUAL PICKER
Choose Pick element in the toolbar popup. Select an element and change its text
or supported appearance settings. Choose the page/site scope, then Save rule.
Command+Enter saves without closing the full picker. HTML-looking replacement
text remains literal text. The picker cannot select iframe or shadow-tree content.

SAVED RULES AND BACKUPS
Saved rules reapply to matching pages while the extension is installed, enabled
and permitted to access the site. They modify your local browser view, not the
website's server files or other visitors' views. Website changes can invalidate
a saved selector or original-text match; pick the element again in that case.
Rules remain until deleted, extension data is cleared or the installation is
removed. Use Options > Export for a backup, especially during temporary testing.
Use Options > Import to transfer compatible rules from Chrome or Edge. Custom
JavaScript and local-file rules cannot run in Safari. Browser storage is separate.

Disable/delete text rules to restore their owned text changes. Reload after
removing CSS rules if the old style is still visible. Escape/Close discards an
unsaved picker draft; it does not undo an already saved rule.

UPDATING A TEMPORARY INSTALLATION
1. Export rules and keep a copy of the previous package.
2. Close the popup and picker.
3. If using an extracted folder, replace its files with the new Safari package.
4. Use Safari Settings > Extensions to reload the temporary extension, then
refresh the webpage. If the temporary extension has expired, add it again.
5. Import your backup if Safari created a separate installation or cleared data.
Do not assume data will transfer automatically between temporary and signed apps.

PERMANENT APP / DISTRIBUTION
Apple's Safari Web Extension Packager in App Store Connect can package the full
extension ZIP from a web browser without requiring a local Mac or Xcode. It needs
an Apple Developer Program account and an app record. After packaging, test with
TestFlight before submitting to App Store review. See PUBLISHING-GUIDE.md.
No Apple app, TestFlight invitation or App Store approval is included in this ZIP.
The optional local Xcode packaging route requires a Mac and Apple's tools.

TROUBLESHOOTING
No Developer tab: enable Show features for web developers under Settings > Advanced.
No Add Temporary Extension option: check that Safari is version 18.4 or newer.
Picker unavailable: use a normal HTTP/HTTPS page, allow website access in Safari
Settings > Extensions, then refresh the page. Safari internal pages are restricted.
Missing icon/manifest: use the Safari ZIP directly, or extract every file into a
new folder and select the folder directly containing manifest.json and the icons.
Old page context: refresh the webpage after reloading the extension.
AI unavailable: expected in this Safari build. Use Quick text or Pick element.
Custom JavaScript/file URL error: expected; those Chrome features are not supported.
Extension disappeared: Safari removes temporary extensions after 24 hours or quit.

This port has automated Node/Happy DOM checks. Real Safari behavior, signing and
App Store packaging still need testing on Apple devices before public release.
