PAGECRAFT STUDIO 0.7.0 — AI PREVIEW
Requires desktop Google Chrome 138 or newer; AI needs eligible hardware and a
usable Chrome LanguageModel installation. A current Chrome release is recommended.
This is a separate test upgrade. The 0.5.3 Store submission remains unchanged.
0.7.0 has not been submitted or approved through that review.

FIRST INSTALLATION / SEPARATE TEST COPY
1. Extract this ZIP into a permanent folder named PageCraft Studio AI Preview.
2. Open chrome://extensions in desktop Google Chrome.
3. Turn ON Developer mode, click Load unpacked, and choose the extracted folder
   directly containing manifest.json, icon16.png, icon32.png, icon48.png, icon128.png,
   html, script, and style.
4. Pin PageCraft Studio from Chrome's puzzle-piece Extensions menu.
5. If testing alongside another PageCraft installation, disable that version on
your test page to prevent duplicate edits and shortcut conflicts.
A separate installation has separate storage. Use Options > Export in the old
installation and Options > Import in this one if you want a copy of your rules.

UPDATE AN EXISTING UNPACKED INSTALLATION
1. Back up rules with Options > Export and keep a copy of the old extension files.
2. Close the popup, visual picker and AI editor.
3. Extract the new files over the SAME folder previously loaded into Chrome.
Keep that folder in its current location; do not uninstall the extension.
4. Open chrome://extensions, click Reload, then refresh the webpage.
Existing saved rules remain compatible. A Store-installed extension cannot be
updated by extracting files over its installation; use a separate unpacked copy.

AI EDIT — REVIEW, PREVIEW, SAVE
1. Open a normal webpage and press Alt+A (Option+A on Mac), or choose AI edit in
PageCraft's toolbar popup. The editor reads a limited snapshot of the page.
2. Click Prepare AI. Chrome may download its AI model on first use. The setup
screen reports progress or says when this device/browser is unavailable.
3. Use English. Choose Review page for suggestions without edits, or Make changes
and describe what you want. For example: "Make the heading friendlier and
increase paragraph spacing." Keep Fast for focused requests; choose Thorough
when you need more page content considered. Each generation scans again.
4. Inspect the proposed text and style changes. Click Preview on page to see them.
5. Click Save for this page to persist the preview for this exact URL.
6. Discard preview or close the editor to revert unsaved changes. Undo last AI save
removes the latest AI batch for the tab during this browser session.
7. Request another plan when needed. A fresh scan runs automatically; previously
saved edits remain in place. If you navigate, return to the intended page first.
AI suggestions are limited to scanned text and supported styles. They do not
include executable code. Page content stays on your device; no API key is needed.
AI-GUIDE.md explains device requirements, data use and feature limits.

FASTER, MORE FOCUSED REQUESTS
Fast considers up to 24 targets and proposes at most 8 edits. Thorough considers
up to 60 targets and proposes at most 20 edits. Quote the text you mean or name a
page region, such as "Rewrite the main heading". Prepare AI once and keep the
editor open between requests to reuse setup; requests do not share page history.
Progress or draft text may appear during generation. Wait for the completed plan
before previewing. Actual speed depends on your device, request and page.

QUICK TEXT — SMALL EDITOR
1. Press Alt+Q (Option+Q on Mac) on a normal webpage and click text.
2. Type the replacement, then press Ctrl+Enter (Command+Enter on Mac).
It saves for this exact page and closes the editor.
3. Press Escape instead to cancel your unsaved draft.
Quick text is also available in the toolbar popup. If a shortcut conflicts, assign
it at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. Chrome or other extensions may already use it.

FULL VISUAL EDITOR
Choose Pick element in the toolbar popup, select an element, then edit text and
optional colors, font size, spacing, corners or visibility. Save rule persists it
for This exact page or Every page on this site. Ctrl+Enter saves without closing.
Plain text containing HTML is displayed literally, never executed as markup.

WHAT SAVING MEANS
Rules stay in this Chrome profile and reapply on matching page visits and browser
restarts until disabled/deleted, extension data is cleared or it is uninstalled.
They change your local browser view. They do not rewrite the website's server files
or change what anyone else sees. Export rules for a portable backup.
AI saves always use exact-page scope, including query strings and fragments.
Saved selectors and original text must still match; if the website changes, rescan
or pick the element again. AI scans only a limited portion of the top document.

EDIT AND UNDO
AI saves appear as ordinary saved rules and can be disabled, edited, deleted or
exported. Undo last AI save is a single latest-batch action for the tab, not a
permanent history; it is lost when that tab or the browser session ends. Use the
ordinary rule controls for older saves. Disabling/deleting a text rule restores
owned text changes; refresh after removing saved CSS if styling remains.
The manual picker also has Reset changes and Escape to discard unsaved drafts.

PERMISSIONS AND LIMITS
AI, text and visual editing do not require Allow User Scripts. Only custom
JavaScript uses that setting: extension Details > Allow User Scripts, then Reload.
Local file pages and resources need Allow access to file URLs separately.
Chrome internal pages and the Chrome Web Store cannot be modified. Form input
values, editable regions, iframe contents and shadow-tree contents are excluded
from AI scanning. AI is a limited text/style review, not a full site audit.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Icon could not load: download the 0.7.0 ZIP, right-click it > Extract All, and
extract into a NEW folder. Load that new folder in Chrome. It must contain
manifest.json and all four icon PNGs. Do not select or work inside the ZIP.
Manifest missing/unreadable: fully extract the ZIP and select the exact folder
containing manifest.json, not the ZIP or a parent folder.
Extension context invalidated: refresh the webpage after reloading the extension.
AI unavailable: check Chrome's device requirements linked in AI-GUIDE.md. Browser
version alone is insufficient. Continue with Alt+Q or Pick element if unsupported.
AI plan failed/page changed: discard any preview and generate again with a smaller
request. The new generation takes a fresh snapshot. Try Fast for focused changes.
Close the manual picker before scanning or previewing AI changes.

This AI Preview uses mocked automated checks. Actual Chrome/model integration,
model download and AI output quality require on-device testing before publication.
