# PageCraft Studio — Safari and Microsoft Edge

Version 0.7.0 · Desktop preview builds · 24 September 2026

Pick an element, change its text or appearance, and save the change in your own
browser. Saved rules reapply when you revisit matching pages while the extension
remains installed and enabled. They do not change the website's server files or
what other visitors see.

real Edge or Safari session here. Safari on iPhone and iPad is not included in
this desktop release.

## Install in Microsoft Edge

1. Download `PageCraft_Studio_Edge_0.7.0.zip` and extract the entire archive.
2. Open `edge://extensions` in Edge.
3. Enable **Developer mode**.
4. Click **Load unpacked** and choose the extracted folder containing
`manifest.json` and the four root icon PNG files.
5. Pin PageCraft Studio to the toolbar and open a normal website.
6. Allow access to the websites you want to edit when Edge asks.

Keep the extracted folder; Edge reads the extension from it. A ZIP download does
not install the extension automatically. This is a local test build, not an Edge
Add-ons listing. Browser-managed pages and extension stores cannot be edited.

For AI, Microsoft's current documentation describes the Prompt API as a developer
preview in **Edge Dev and Canary**, enabled through the Prompt API flag. Follow
Microsoft's current setup and hardware requirements. PageCraft checks availability
before preparing the model. Normal page editing works even when AI is unavailable.
AI runs locally; no API key or PageCraft cloud AI service is used.

## Try it in Safari on a Mac

Use **Safari 18.4 or newer**. This version is required for the document identity
checks that stop an edit from accidentally applying to a newly navigated page.

1. Download `PageCraft_Studio_Safari_0.7.0.zip`.
2. Open **Safari → Settings → Advanced** and enable **Show features for web developers**.
3. Go to **Settings → Developer → Add Temporary Extension…**.
4. Select the ZIP, or its fully extracted folder, and respond to Safari's unsigned
   extension authentication prompt.
5. Enable PageCraft Studio under **Settings → Extensions**, then allow access to
the websites you want to edit.

**Safari removes temporary extensions after 24 hours or when you quit Safari.**
Export your saved rules before ending the test. The ZIP is an extension resources
package, not a signed Mac application or permanent installer.

For permanent Safari distribution, an enrolled Apple Developer account can use
**App Store Connect → app record → Xcode Cloud → Safari Web Extension Packager**.
Create a macOS app record, upload the complete Safari ZIP, review the build's
compatibility results, test through TestFlight, then submit for App Store review.
Apple's current online packager does not require a Mac or Xcode to package the
resources. An app record, Apple signing, testing, and review have not been completed
for this preview.

## Edit and save

Open the extension and select the visual picker or compact text editor. Click a
supported text element, type the replacement, then press **Ctrl+Enter** on Windows
or **Command+Enter** on Mac to save. **Escape** cancels. The configured quick-edit
shortcut is **Alt+Q** (**Option+Q** on Mac); if it conflicts with your browser or
keyboard settings, use the extension's popup.

Use Options to edit, disable, remove, export, or import rules. Allow site access
and reload pages that were already open when installing. For dynamic sites, a
rule may stop matching if the website changes its structure or original text.

## Privacy and source

Rules, original text, replacement text, selectors, and settings stay in your
browser profile. Imported/exported backups may contain this information. There
is no publisher analytics or PageCraft backend. Remote resources you explicitly
configure contact their own hosts; custom scripts in Edge can make requests
according to their code. Safari does not run imported custom JavaScript rules.

`PageCraft_Studio_Browser_Source_0.7.0.zip` contains both ports' exact extension
files, tests, upstream materials, licenses, provenance, and repacking instructions.
PageCraft is a modified distribution of Code Injector by L.Sabatelli under GNU
GPL version 3, with dependency notices retained.
